  • 1. Read the information below to learn more about Heights programs.

  • 2. Watch the information session for your child’s grade.

  • 4. Register for an optional Zoom information session (Thursday at 5:00 pm). Registration link will be sent to you in a confirmation email after you complete the interest form.

  • 5. Attend information session.

  • 6 . We will contact families regarding next steps after steps 1 through 5 are completed.

Elementary (K-6) Programs

Elementary (K-6) Programs

For families of students in kindergarten through sixth grade interested in a parent-school partnership in a small and personalized learning environment, Vancouver Home Connections is the place for you.

Another option for kindergarten through fifth grade students is our online program, Virtual Learning Academy. K-5 VLA offers a flexible and personalized learning opportunity for students. Watch the VLA Elementary Program Information Video to learn more.

Middle School (7 & 8) Programs

Middle School (7 & 8) Programs

We offer three options to meet the needs of 7th and 8th grade students.

Families interested in a 5-day a week alternative middle school setting that is small, supportive, and personalized, the Heights Academy may be the perfect option for your family.

For families interested in a parent-school partnership in a small and personalized learning environment, Vancouver Home Connections is the place for you.

Students in 6th-8th grade who are looking for a predominately on-line experience that offers flexibility and individualized pacing would be interested in Virtual Learning Academy.

High School (9-12) Programs

High School (9-12) Programs

We offer three options to meet the needs of high school students.

9th and 10th grade students looking for a smaller, personalized learning experience would be interested in our Heights Academy.

Students 9th-12th who are looking for a predominately on-line experience that offers flexibility and individualized pacing would be interested in Virtual Learning Academy.

Student in the 11th and 12th grades who are significantly credit deficient and interested in work experience and job skills maybe a good fit for our Open Doors program.

Vancouver Home Connection & Heights Academy

Home Connection is a classroom-based parent-partnership program serving students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Home Connection faculty members collaborate with families to reach their educational goals by providing outstanding core academic instruction and access to information, guidance, and learning resources. This program best meets the needs of students who have a high level of parent involvement, are motivated and independent Onsite attendance is required two to three days per week depending on selected courses.

Heights Academy is an alternative middle and high school program serving students in 7th-10th grades. Heights provides a small, supportive, and personalized learning environment that focuses on academic achievement, social emotional learning, and post-secondary preparation. Students who attend Heights are also choosing to participate in the Achievement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program.

We do not offer sports, music, or multiple world languages (we offer Spanish).  Students can access these extras at their resident school if the school schedules allow.

Virtual Learning Academy (VLA)

Virtual Learning is a predominately online program with some blended-learning and proficiency-based opportunities. VLA serves students in sixth through twelfth grades who prefer to learn independently. The independent and self-paced environment is appealing for students who, for a variety of reasons, have struggled in traditional schools. Students who are on pace to graduate or those with credit deficiencies can work with staff to design an educational pathway to meet their academic goals. The array of online and work-based learning options also allow students to prepare for college or careers. Students are required to schedule a minimum of 2.5 hours per week on campus. Students with individualized education plans maybe required to be onsite for additional time to meet their Individualized Education Plan goals.

Open Doors

Open Doors is a re-engagement program that serves credit deficient students ages 16 to 21 who are at risk of not graduating. Open Doors students develop a personalized educational program specific to their academic and job goals. Students earn credit through specially designed courses, online course options, and work-based learning opportunities. Open Doors opportunities also focus on real-life skills such as personal finance, completing job applications, and other independent living skills.  Students are required to schedule a minimum of 2.5 hours per week on campus. Students with individualized education plans maybe required to be onsite for additional time to meet their Individualized Education Plan goals.
