Grades 9–12
Small-scale environment and flexible schedule

The S.T.A.R. Program at Heights Campus offers a calm, supportive space for students in Grades 9–12 who do better in a smaller learning setting. We focus on supporting students who struggle with anxiety, depression, or the effects of trauma. By combining academic progress with mental wellness, students create a manageable path toward their Traditional 24-Credit Diploma.

Why choose this program?

  • Small-Scale Environment: A single-classroom setting with one teacher and one paraeducator, removing the stress of crowded hallways and busy transitions and allowing students to focus on their work in a calm space.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Consistent Tuesday–Friday routines with choice between morning (9:00 –11:15 a.m.) or afternoon (11:45 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) sessions. Students work remotely on Mondays.
  • Mental Health Support: We integrate emotional wellness directly into the school day. Students learn practical techniques—based on proven therapeutic methods—to manage stress, process difficult emotions, and maintain focus in challenging moments.
  • Diverse Learning Paths: A combination of Competency Based and Project-Based Learning ensures education adapts to the student, not the other way around.
  • Comprehensive Support: Access to transportation, student advocates, mental health counseling, and 504/IEP support.

Best for students who need an alternative to the traditional high school experience, particularly those navigating:

  • Emotional Challenges: Students struggling with anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed in large groups.
  • Past Hardships: Those who have dealt with trauma or difficult life events and need a supportive, calm environment to learn.
  • Barriers to Belonging: Students who have felt left out or misunderstood due to their background, race, or identity.
  • Life Instability: Students who need a steady, flexible home base while dealing with housing or family changes.
