On Wednesday, October 30, all 10th graders at Lieser have the opportunity to participate in the PSAT. Participation in the PSAT is optional, but encouraged.

Please RSVP to take the PSAT by visiting the following link and completing the very short survey: https://forms.gle/ycehoV4trDjXH5fd9

Students with an IEP or 504 plan who would like to request accommodations for the PSAT must complete the survey by Friday, September 13 so that the accommodations can be requested to College Board prior to the test administration.

Why take the PSAT? According to US News and World Report, there are three very good reasons to take the PSAT. The following comes from “Three Reasons Your PSAT Score Matters,” by Ryan Maness:

  1. Scores can lead to National Merit Scholarships: The National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses these scores to qualify semifinalists who are then considered for National Merit Scholarship competition. Recognition by the National Merit program
  2. Good scores can indicate performance on the SAT: The PSAT is a terrific way to familiarize yourself with the structure, content and process of taking the SAT and get a sense of how you’ll perform on the actual exam. Your score can show you
  3. Doing well can provide a big confidence boost: Test anxiety and a fear of the unknown can have a negative impact on students taking the SAT for the first time. However, if you’ve already done well on the PSAT, you’ll be at a distinct advantage.
